WHAT IS A DERMA ROLLER?
A Microneedle Derma Roller is a portable hand-held skincare tool consisting of 540 titanium thin needles in a roller format which can be used at-home. When using this skincare tool in strokes, either vertically, horizontally or diagonally, these tiny needles create microscopic holes when puncturing the skin to create controlled and micro-injuries that kick-start the skin's healing process. This non-invasive procedure allows the skin to boost the product of collagen and elastin to improve uneven skin tones and texture to create a much tighter, firmer and plumper complexion. Don't panic though, it's not a painful procedure, and it can be quite therapeutic!
DERMA PEN VS DERMA ROLLER
You'll find many dermatologists use a derma pen vs a derma roller, which is an electronic microneedling device that oscillates. Although the results for the derma pen are known to be effective, it can be expensive and have painful side effects, such as skin breakage and bleeding. Plus, it means you require a higher pain threshold as well as a much larger bank balance.

With our Microneedle Derma Roller, it's much more affordable and convenient. DO YOU NEED TO USE SKINCARE PRODUCTS WITH IT?
It can be used with or without creams, serums or oils, however there's evidence to suggest the microscopic puncturing technique allows the active ingredients within skincare products to absorb and penetrate the skin much faster, for a much more powerful and effective treatment. It's very much down to your preference and what you're comfortable with, for you and your skin type.

HOW TO USE A MICRONEEDLING DERMA TOOL AT HOME?
(1) Sterilise the needles
Sterilise the stainless steel needles and ensure the needles have been disinfected, by soaking the roller in alcohol before and after use, and wash the needles with boiling water to remove any residue of alcohol.
(2) Cleanse and prep your skin
Before you roll and place the needles directly on your face, cleanse and gently exfoliate your skin. It's key to remove any dirt, oil, or impurities; whilst also ensuring the first layer of dead skin has been removed. This will ensure no infection will occur when needles are penetrating through your skin and it will mean the treatment will be more effective and successful.
(3) Now, it's time to roll
When your face is patted dry, lightly roll the microneedling derma roller back and forth across your face. Please be careful on the more sensitive and delicate areas of your face including the under eye and lips. Start at the centre of your face and work your way out vertically. Once you've rolled across the area of your face or body, you can go back in with horizontal or diagonal strokes and repeat 2-3 times. The pressure can be light touch, although if you would like to press more firmly you can; depending on what feels comfortable and right for you. If you're looking to support hair growth, you can use the roller across your scalp or beard.
(4) How to store your product
Once you've finished microneedling, please follow step 1 above and place the tool in its plastic case to protect the derma roller from getting dirty. Please do not leave in direct sun light.
(5) Replacing the head
Depending on the amount of use, and if used frequently, you can change the head or device every 1-2 months.
